Sir Gerard Lowther1

     Sir Gerard Lowther was born on 11 December 1561 at Lowther Hall, Lowther, Westmorland, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir Richard Lowther and Frances Midleton.1 He married, firstly, Grace Bellingham, daughter of Alan Bellingham and Dorothy Sandford.1 He married, secondly, Anne Bulmer, daughter of Sir Ralph Bulmer and Anne Tempest, circa 1598.2 He died in 1624 at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He died on 14 October 1624 at age 62, without issue.2 He was buried on 29 October 1624 at Christ Church, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.2
     He was granted large tracts of land in Counties Tyrone and Fermanaghm where he built the castle of Lowtherstone.3 He held the office of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas [Ireland] between 1610 and 1624.1 He was appointed Knight in 1618.1

Catherine McCarthy1

     Catherine McCarthy was the daughter of Teige McCarthy Mor.1 She married Thomas FitzMaurice, 14th Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw, son of Edmond FitzMaurice, 9th Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw and Una MacMahon, after 1580.1 She died in 1582 at Eleanmoylenea in Killarney, IrelandG, from smallpox.1 She was buried at Grey Friar, Muckross.1
     Her married name became FitzMaurice.1
