     Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith was born on 11 July 1890 at 24 Walton Street, Chelsea, London, England.² He was the son of Beckwith Beckwith-Smith and Georgina Butler Moore.² He married Honor Dorothy Leigh, daughter of John Blundell Leigh and Lady Rose Nevill, on 14 March 1918.¹ He died on 11 November 1942 at age 52 at POW camp, Karenko, Taiwan.²
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.² He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, Master of Arts (M.A.)^2,1 He fought in the First World War.² He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1914.² He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel.² He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.² He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He lived at Aberarder, Strathnairn, Inverness-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War, and was captured as a POW in Singapore.² He was commander of the 1st Guards Brigade between 1939 and 1940.² He lived at The Manor House, Stratton Audley, Oxfordshire, England^G.² He was awarded the Croix de Guerre French.² He was commander of the 18th Division in 1942.²

     Honor Dorothy Leigh was born in 1892.¹ She was the daughter of John Blundell Leigh and Lady Rose Nevill.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith, son of Beckwith Beckwith-Smith and Georgina Butler Moore, on 14 March 1918.¹ She died on 25 December 1982.²
     From 14 March 1918, her married name became Beckwith-Smith.¹ She was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)¹ She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.¹

     Susan Elaine Parkes is the daughter of Sidney Edward Parkes.¹ She married John Moore Beckwith-Smith, son of Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith and Honor Dorothy Leigh, on 30 September 1954.
     From 30 September 1954, her married name became Beckwith-Smith.¹

     Rupert Beckwith-Smith was born on 17 November 1959.¹ He is the son of John Moore Beckwith-Smith and Susan Elaine Parkes.¹

     Camilla Lucy Beckwith-Smith was born on 30 April 1958.¹ She is the daughter of John Moore Beckwith-Smith and Susan Elaine Parkes.¹ She married Anthony Russell Bethune Woodd, son of Basil Bethune Neville Woodd.²
     Her married name became Woodd.² Camilla Lucy Beckwith-Smith usually went by her middle name of Lucy.²

     Lady Serena Mary Bridgeman was born on 1 July 1949.¹ She was the daughter of Gerald Michael Orlando Bridgeman, 6th Earl of Bradford and Mary Willoughby Montgomery.¹ She married Richard Arnold Andrew, son of John Ramsay Andrew, on 27 April 1978.¹ She and Richard Arnold Andrew were divorced in 1989.¹ She died on 16 January 2001 at age 51.¹
     From 27 April 1978, her married name became Andrew.¹ In 1989 her name was legally changed to Bridgeman.¹

     Richard Arnold Andrew was the son of John Ramsay Andrew.¹ He married Lady Serena Mary Bridgeman, daughter of Gerald Michael Orlando Bridgeman, 6th Earl of Bradford and Mary Willoughby Montgomery, on 27 April 1978.¹ He and Lady Serena Mary Bridgeman were divorced in 1989.¹ He died in 2000.¹

     John Ramsay Andrew lived at St. Saviours, Guernsey, Channel Islands^G.¹

     James Francis Hayward lived at Plastow Green, Hampshire, England^G.¹
