He was educated at Dr. Reddy’s School, Camberwell, Surrey, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Dr. May’s Academy, Enfield, London, EnglandG.3 He was a clerk, at his father’s bank.3 He was admitted to Lincoln Inn in 1838 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He was admitted to Inner Inn in 1838 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He was a Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1851.1 He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) in 1851.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1856.4 He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer between 1856 and 1876.1 He held the office of Lord Justice of Appeal between 1876 and 1881.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 28 November 1876.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 11 January 1882.1 He was created 1st Baron Bramwell of Hever, Kent [U.K.] on 3 February 1882.1
On his death his peerage became extinct.1
