     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹

     William Boyd was born on 21 August 1773.¹ He was the son of Rev. Dr. William Boyd of Myrton and Joanna Maitland.¹ He died in 1814 at New York, U.S.A.^G.¹
     He was a merchant at Charleston, South Carolina, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Maitland Wilson Boyd was born in 1814.¹ He was the son of William Boyd.¹ He died on 12 May 1877 at London, England^G.¹

     James Boyd was born on 5 January 1776.¹ He was the son of Rev. Dr. William Boyd of Myrton and Joanna Maitland.¹ He died before 1794, without issue.¹
     He was a merchant at London, England^G.¹

     Janet Yule is the daughter of Benjamin Yule.¹ She married Edward Boyd of Mertonhall, son of Rev. Dr. William Boyd of Myrton and Joanna Maitland, on 15 November 1797.¹
     From 15 November 1797, her married name became Boyd.¹

     Benjamin Yule lived at Wheatfield, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹

     William Sprot Boyd was born on 16 December 1799.¹ He was the son of Edward Boyd of Mertonhall and Janet Yule.¹ He died on 18 August 1844 at age 44, without issue.¹
     He was in the Honourable East India Company.¹ He held the office of Political Commissioner of Gujerat.¹ He held the office of Resident of Baroda.¹

     Benjamin Boyd was born in 1803.¹ He was the son of Edward Boyd of Mertonhall and Janet Yule.¹ He died in October 1851 at Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands^G, killed on landing from his yacht, The Wanderer.¹
     He was a banker at Mertonhall, Wigtownshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Mark Boyd was born on 14 April 1805.¹ He was the son of Edward Boyd of Mertonhall and Janet Yule.¹ He married Emma Anne Robinson in 1848.¹ He died on 13 September 1879 at age 74, without issue.¹
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He lived at Mertonhall, Wigtownshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Emma Anne Robinson was born circa 1811.² She married, firstly, Robert Coates before 1848.¹ She married, secondly, Mark Boyd, son of Edward Boyd of Mertonhall and Janet Yule, in 1848.¹ She died on 15 September 1872.¹
     From before 1848, her married name became Coates.¹ From 1848, her married name became Boyd.¹
