     He was educated at Coatham School, Coatham, England^G.¹ He was a solicitor, with Albert Borrie & Sons in 1912.¹ He fought in the First World War, as a dispatch rider with the Artists Rifles.¹ He was a director of Jordans (legal publishers.)¹ He was a director of Hazell, Watson & Viney.¹ He wrote the book Company Law.¹

     Alice Forsyth was born on 26 July 1892 at Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, North Riding, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of John Forsyth and Mary Ann Irvine.¹ She married Stanley Borrie, son of Albert Borrie and Beatrice Amelia Gertrude Johnson, on 23 October 1919 at Croydon, London, England^G.² She died on 4 November 1967 at age 75 at Croydon, London, England^G.¹
     From 23 October 1919, her married name became Borrie.¹

     Hon. Georgina Borthwick was born on 18 December 1975.¹ She is the daughter of John Hugh Borthwick of that Ilk, 24th Lord Borthwick and Adelaide Birkmyre.¹ She married Malcolm Alexander Leslie, son of William Leslie, on 6 December 2003 at Borthwick Parish Church, Borthwick, Midlothian, Scotland^G.^1,2

     Sir William Borthwick, 1st of Borthwick was born before 1368. He died before 1430.¹
     He held the office of Scottish Ambassador to England between 1398 and 1415.¹ In 1410 he was granted a charter for the lands of Borthwick, Selkirkshire, by the Regent Albany.¹ He was a commissioner to treat for the King’s relaease in 1423.¹ Between 1424 and 1427 he was a substitute hostage for King James I.¹

     Beatrice Sinclair was the daughter of Henry Sinclair, 1st Earl of Orkney and Jane Halyburton.¹ She and Sir William Borthwick, 2nd of Borthwick obtained a marriage license on 1 May 1411.¹
     From 1 May 1411, her married name became Borthwick.¹

     Janet Borthwick was the daughter of Sir William Borthwick, 2nd of Borthwick and Beatrice Sinclair.¹ She married, secondly, George Crichton, 1st and last Earl of Caithness, son of Sir Stephen Crichton of Cairns and unknown daughter Cairns.² She married, firstly, Sir James Douglas, 1st Lord of Dalkeith, son of Sir James Douglas of Dalkeith and Lady Agnes Dunbar, from 1411 to October 1439.² She died after 5 June 1464.³
     Her married name became Crichton.² From before October 1439, her married name became Douglas.²
