     Jean Mary Browne-Powlett was born illegitimately circa 1751.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Powlett, 5th Duke of Bolton and Mary Browne Banks.¹ She married Thomas Orde-Powlett, 1st Baron Bolton of Bolton Castle, son of John Orde and Anne Marr, on 7 April 1778 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ She died on 14 December 1814 at Hot Wells, Bristol, England^G.¹ She was buried on 24 December 1814 at Old Basing, Hampshire, England^G.¹
     After her marriage, Jean Mary Browne-Powlett was styled as Baroness Bolton of Bolton Castle on 20 October 1797.

     Thomas Orde-Powlett, 1st Baron Bolton of Bolton Castle was born on 30 August 1740.¹ He was the son of John Orde and Anne Marr.¹ He was baptised on 2 October 1740 at Morpeth, Northumberland, England^G.¹ He married Jean Mary Browne-Powlett, daughter of Charles Powlett, 5th Duke of Bolton and Mary Browne Banks, on 7 April 1778 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ He died on 30 July 1807 at age 66 at Hackwood Park, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He was buried on 8 August 1807 at Old Basing, Hampshire, England^G.¹ His will was proven (by probate) in August 1807.¹

     John Orde was the son of Thomas Orde and Mary Strother.² He married, secondly, Anne Marr, daughter of Ralph Marr.¹ He married, firstly, Mary Ward, daughter of Edward Ward, in 1734.² He died in 1784.²

     Hon. Maria Carleton was born on 20 August 1777 at Château St. Louis, Quebec, Canada^G.¹ She was the daughter of General Guy Carleton, 1st Baron Dorchester and Lady Maria Howard.¹ She married William Orde-Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton of Bolton Castle, son of Thomas Orde-Powlett, 1st Baron Bolton of Bolton Castle and Jean Mary Browne-Powlett, on 8 May 1810 at Bisham, Berkshire, England^G.¹ She died on 16 November 1863 at age 86 at Odiham Rectory, Hampshire, England^G.¹ She was buried on 23 November 1863 at Old Basing, Hampshire, England^G.¹
     From 8 May 1810, her married name became Orde-Powlett.¹ After her marriage, Hon. Maria Carleton was styled as Baroness Bolton of Bolton Castle on 8 May 1810.
