He matriculated at Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 10 October 1597.2 He was appointed Knight on 5 October 1605 at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, by the Lord Deputy [Ireland].2 He was created 1st Baronet Burton, of Stockerston, co. Leicester [England] on 22 July 1622.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Leicestershire from 1633 to 1634.2

He was admitted to Gray’s Inn on 12 July 1670.1 He was created 1st Baronet Barker, of Bockinghall [in Bocking], co. Essex [England] on 29 March 1676.1 He lived at Bockinghall, Bocking, Essex, EnglandG.1 He lived at Curraghmore, County Limerick, IrelandG.1 He mortgaged the Bocking estate, and emigrated to Ireland.1
