Sir Robert Barclay of Pierston, 1st Bt.1 
On 3 July 1657 he had a State charter of Whytfoord, Renfrew.2 On 4 July 1661 he was retoured heir to his brother, Robert.2 He was a merchant at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2 Between 1665 and 1667 he fitted out privateers for the Second Dutch War.2 He was appointed Knight.1 On 13 September 1667 he had a charter of the lands of Busbie, Knockintubber and Hallbarns, in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire.3 He was created 1st Baronet Barclay, of Pierston, co. Ayr [Nova Scotia] on 22 October 1668.1 He was Commissioner of Supply, Excise and Militia for Ayrshire in 1678.3
