     Samuel Gorges lived at Wraxall, Somerset, England^G.¹

     Sir Charles Warwick Bamfylde, 5th Bt. was born on 23 January 1753.¹ He was baptised on 23 January 1753 at St. Augustine’s, Bristol, England^G.¹ He was the son of Sir Richard Warwick Bamfylde, 4th Bt. and Jane Codrington.¹ He married Catharine Moore, daughter of Admiral Sir John Moore, 1st Bt. and Penelope Mathew, on 9 February 1776 at St. James’s, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He died on 19 April 1823 at age 70 at Montagu Square, London, England^G, from a shot received on the 7th from an ex-servant, Morland, who immediately afterwards committed suicide.^1,2 He was buried on 25 April 1823 at Hardington, Somerset, England^G.¹
     He matriculated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 6 January 1770.¹ He graduated with a Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Exeter between 1774 and 1790.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Bamfylde, of Poltimore, co. Devon [E., 1641] on 15 July 1776.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Exeter between 1796 and 1807.¹

     Catharine Moore was born circa 1754.¹ She was the daughter of Admiral Sir John Moore, 1st Bt. and Penelope Mathew.¹ She married Sir Charles Warwick Bamfylde, 5th Bt., son of Sir Richard Warwick Bamfylde, 4th Bt. and Jane Codrington, on 9 February 1776 at St. James’s, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ She died on 20 March 1832 at Egham, Surrey, England^G.¹
     From 9 February 1776, her married name became Bamfylde.¹

     Admiral Sir John Moore, 1st Bt. was the son of Rev. Hon. Henry Moore and Catharine Knatchbull. He married Penelope Mathew, daughter of William Mathew and Anne Smith.
     He was appointed Knight Bachelor.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Moore [Great Britain] in 1766.¹ On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.

     Mary Moore is the daughter of Sir Francis Moore. She married John Jerningham, son of Sir Henry Jerningham, 1st Bt. and Eleanor Throckmorton.
     Her married name became Jerningham.

     Sir Henry Jerningham, 2nd Bt. was the son of John Jerningham and Mary Moore. He died on 1 September 1646.
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Jerningham [E., 1621].

     George Warwick Bampfylde, 1st Baron Poltimore was born on 23 March 1786.¹ He was the son of Sir Charles Warwick Bamfylde, 5th Bt. and Catharine Moore.¹ He was baptised on 20 April 1786 at St. James’s, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He married, firstly, Emma Penelope Sneyd, daughter of Reverend Ralph Sneyd and Penelope Moore, on 2 May 1809 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He married, secondly, Caroline Buller, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Frederick William Buller and Elizabeth Charlotte Tomkyns, on 16 March 1836.² He died on 19 December 1858 at age 72.²
     He matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 10 October 1804.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the North Devon Militia.² He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Bamfylde, of Poltimore, co. Devon [E., 1641] on 19 April 1823.¹ He was created 1st Baron Poltimore, of Poltimore, co. Devon [U.K.] on 10 September 1831.¹ He was Lord-in-Waiting (Liberal) between 1840 and 1841.²

     Emma Penelope Sneyd was the daughter of Reverend Ralph Sneyd and Penelope Moore.¹ She married George Warwick Bampfylde, 1st Baron Poltimore, son of Sir Charles Warwick Bamfylde, 5th Bt. and Catharine Moore, on 2 May 1809 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ She died after 1831, without male issue.¹
     From 2 May 1809, her married name became Bamfylde.¹ After her marriage, Emma Penelope Sneyd was styled as Baroness Poltimore on 10 September 1831.

     Reverend Ralph Sneyd was the son of Ralph Sneyd and Barbara Bagot.² He married Penelope Moore, daughter of Admiral Sir John Moore, 1st Bt. and Penelope Mathew.²
     He held the office of Chaplain to King George IV.¹
