Sir John Bamfylde, 1st Bt.1 
He matriculated at Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 30 October 1629.1 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1630.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Penrhyn between 1640 and 1650.1 He was created 1st Baronet Bamfylde, of Poltimore, co. Devon [England] on 14 July 1641.1

He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Bamfylde, of Poltimore, co. Devon [E., 1641] in April 1650.1 He matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 20 March 1650/51.1
He was an active Royalist, and presented to General Monk a ‘petition of right’ from Devon, for which he was imprisoned.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tiverton in 1659.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Devon from 1660 to 1661.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Devon Militia.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devon between 1671 and 1679.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devon between 1685 and 1687.1 His last will was dated 24 August 1691.
