Colonel Harold Hammond Aykroyd1 
Colonel Harold Hammond Aykroyd was born on 7 April 1896.1 He was the son of Sir William Henry Aykroyd, 1st Bt. and Emma Louisa Hammond.1 He married, firstly, Nina Marguerite Hulse, daughter of Edward John Hulse, on 14 December 1926.1 He and Nina Marguerite Hulse were divorced in 1938.1 He married, secondly, Kathleen Ellen Tyrrell-Gray, daughter of Harry Tyrrell-Gray, on 29 December 1941.1 He died on 6 January 1974 at age 77.1
He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1935.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding.)1 He gained the rank of Brevet-Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding.)1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1957.1
