George Clerk Arbuthnot1 
George Clerk Arbuthnot was born on 7 October 1803.1 He was the son of Sir William Arbuthnot, 1st Bt. and Anne Alves.1 He married, firstly, Agnes Rait, daughter of John Rait and Elizabeth Guthrie, on 7 November 1837.1 He married, secondly, Caroline Ramsay Hay, daughter of James Hay and Lady Mary Ramsay, on 10 January 1845 at Linden College, Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2,3 He died on 21 February 1876 at age 72.1 He was buried at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2
He was commander of the Hythe, an East India ship of season from 1828 to 1829.2 He lived at Mavisbank, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
