He held the office of Alderman of Cheap Ward between 1652 and 1660.1 He held the office of Sheriff of London from 1654 to 1655.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London from 1659 to 1660.1 He held the office of Alderman of Aldgate between 1660 and 1679.1 He was appointed Knight on 29 May 1660.1 He was created 1st Baronet Allen, of Totteridge, Middlesex [England] on 14 June 1660.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Middlesex between 1661 and 1679.1 In 1664 he purchased the estate of Pointer Grove, in Totteridge, Middlesex.1 He was admitted to Gray’s Inn on 12 March 1673/74.1 He held the office of Alderman of Bridge Without between 25 November 1679 and 4 October 1683.1 He held the office of Alderman of Bridge Without between 15 October 1689 and 15 December 1690.1
