He was also known as James Gordon of Methlic and Haddo.2 On 19 April 1475 he had seisin of Methlic as son and heir.1 In 1481 he obtained a charter under the Great Seal from King James III.2 In 1505 he obtained a charter under the Great Seal from King James IV.2 In 1514 he obtained a charter under the Great Seal from King James V.2
