Gloucestershire [U.K., 1806] on 19 February 1891.2 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Elmley [U.K., 1815] on 19 February 1891.2 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of President of the Oxford Union Society in 1893.2 He held the office of Mayor of Worcester between 1895 and 1896.2 He held the office of Governor of New South Wales between 1899 and 1902.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) on 16 February 1899.2 He held the office of Captain of the Gentlemen at Arms (Liberal) between 1906 and 1907.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 8 January 1906.2 He held the office of Lord Steward between 1907 and 1910.2 He held the office of President of the Council in 1910.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) on 22 June 1914.5
