     Guillaume I ‘Longsword’, 2nd Duc de Normandie was born circa 900 at Normandy, FranceG.2 He was the son of Rollo Ragnvaldsson, 1st Duc de Normandie and Poppa of Normandy de Valois.3 He married, firstly, Sprota (?) circa 932 at Normandy, France.2 He married, secondly, Luitgarda de Vermandois, daughter of Heribert II, Comte de Vermandois and Liégarde des Francs, in 935.3 He died on 17 December 942 at Normandy, FranceG, murdered.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Duc de Normandie in 925.1

     After her marriage, Poppa of Normandy de Valois was styled as Duchesse de Normandie.

     Rollo Ragnvaldsson, 1st Duc de Normandie was born circa 846 at Maer, NorwayG.2 He was the son of Ragnvald I ‘the Wise’ Eysteinsson, Jarl of More and Ragnhild Hrolfsdottir.3 He was also reported to have been born in 870 at NorwayG. He married, firstly, Poppa of Normandy de Valois, daughter of Berenger of Bayeaux de Senlis, Count of Bayeaux, in 886.3 He married, secondly, Gisela des Francs, daughter of Charles III, Roi des Francs and Frederuna von Sachsen, in 912.3 He died circa 931 at Rouen, Caux, FranceG.2
     He was called ‘the Walker’ (‘Ganger’) from his being so huge no horse could carry him.4 He was also known as Rollo ‘the Ganger’ (?)4 He was also known as Rolf. He was created 1st Duc de Normandie in 911.1
