     After her marriage, Janet Mercedes Bryce was styled as Marchioness of Milford Haven on 17 November 1960. From 17 November 1960, her married name became Mountbatten.

     Major Francis Bryce was born in 1876 at Bystock, Withycombe Raleigh, Devon, England.² He was the son of John Pablo Bryce and Maria de las Mercedes González de Candamo e Iriarte.^3,2 He married, firstly, Mabel Edith Duncan in January 1898 at Paddington, London, England.⁴ He and Mabel Edith Duncan were divorced in 1907.⁵ He married, secondly, Gladys Morgan Whitin on 11 February 1913 at Paddington, London, England.⁶ He and Gladys Morgan Whitin were divorced on 30 June 1934 at Nevada, U.S.A.⁶ He married, thirdly, Gladys Jean Mosley after 1934 at New York, U.S.A.¹ He died on 2 February 1951 at Bermuda.²
     He gained the rank of Major in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.⁷ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)⁷ He lived at Hamilton, Bermuda.⁷

     Amalia Mary Maud Cassel was born in 1881 at Paddington, London, England^G.² She was the daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Ernest Cassel and Annette Mary Maud Maxwell.^3,2 She married Lt.-Col. Wilfred William Ashley, 1st and last Baron Mount Temple, son of Rt. Hon. Anthony Evelyn Melbourne Ashley and Sybella Charlotte Farquhar, on 4 January 1901.¹ She died on 5 February 1911.³

     Michael Herbert Rudolf Knatchbull, 5th Baron Brabourne of Brabourne was born on 8 May 1895.³ He was the son of Cecil Marcus Knatchbull-Hugessen, 4th Baron Brabourne of Brabourne and Helena Regina Frederica von Flesch Brunningen.³ He married Lady Doreen Geraldine Browne, daughter of George Ulick Browne, 6th Marquess of Sligo and Agatha Stewart Hodgson, on 22 January 1919.³ He died on 23 February 1939 at age 43.³
     He was given the name of Michael Herbert Rudolf Knatchbull-Hugessen at birth.³ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.⁴ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.⁴ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)⁴ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Air Force.⁴ On 29 June 1919 his name was legally changed to Michael Herbert Rudolf Knatchbull by Deed Poll.³ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ashford between 1931 and 1933.⁴ He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1932 and 1933, to the Secretary of State for India.⁴ He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (G.C.I.E.) in 1933.⁴ He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Knatchbull, of Mersham Hatch, co. Kent [E., 1641] on 15 September 1933.⁴ He succeeded as the 5th Baron Brabourne of Brabourne, Kent [U.K., 1880] on 15 September 1933.³ He held the office of Governor of Bombay between December 1933 and 1937.⁴ He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.) in 1937.⁴ He held the office of Governor of Bengal between 1937 and 1939.⁴ He held the office of Governor-General of India in 1938, acting.⁴

     Lady Doreen Geraldine Browne was born on 29 May 1896. She was the daughter of George Ulick Browne, 6th Marquess of Sligo and Agatha Stewart Hodgson.² She married Michael Herbert Rudolf Knatchbull, 5th Baron Brabourne of Brabourne, son of Cecil Marcus Knatchbull-Hugessen, 4th Baron Brabourne of Brabourne and Helena Regina Frederica von Flesch Brunningen, on 22 January 1919.³ She died on 27 August 1979 at age 83 at County Sligo, Ireland^G, killed by a bomb planted in Lord Mountbatten’s fishing boat by the IRA.⁴
     From 22 January 1919, her married name became Knatchbull-Hugessen. From 29 June 1919, her married name became Knatchbull.³ She was appointed Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.)⁴ She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.St.J.)⁴ After her marriage, Lady Doreen Geraldine Browne was styled as Baroness Brabourne of Brabourne on 15 September 1933.
