He was the son of Christian IV Oldenburg, King of Denmark and Anne Katherine von Brandenburg.3 He married Sophie Amelie Prinzessin von Braunschweig-Lüneburg, daughter of Georg Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Anne Eleanore Prinzessin von Hessen-Darmstadt, on 1 October 1643 at Glückstadt, Schleswig-Holstein, GermanyG. He was also reported to have been married on 18 October 1643. He died on 9 February 1670 at age 60 at Copenhagen, DenmarkG.
He succeeded as the King Frederik III of Denmark in 1648.1

She was the daughter of Georg Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Anne Eleanore Prinzessin von Hessen-Darmstadt.3,1 She married Frederik III Oldenburg, King of Denmark, son of Christian IV Oldenburg, King of Denmark and Anne Katherine von Brandenburg, on 1 October 1643 at Glückstadt, Schleswig-Holstein, GermanyG. She was also reported to have been married on 18 October 1643. She died on 20 February 1685 at age 56 at Copenhagen, DenmarkG.
She gained the title of Prinzessin von Braunschweig-Lüneburg.1 From 18 October 1643, her married name became Oldenburg Princess of Brunswick-Lüneburg.
