Jill Bliss was born on 29 April 1937 at Finchey, London, England.1 She was the daughter of John Llewellyn Bliss and Patricia DuBern.1 She married, firstly, Antony Paton Walsh, son of Brigadier Edmund James Paton Walsh and Helen Patricia Spens, in 1961.1 She married, secondly, John Rowe Townsend in 2004.1 She married Dennis Nicholas Herbert Herbert, 3rd Baron Hemingford, son of Dennis George Ruddock Herbert, 2nd Baron Hemingford and Elizabeth McClare Clark, in February 2020.1 She died on 18 October 2020 at age 83.1
She was educated at St. Anne’s College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 From 1961, her married name became Paton Walsh.1 She wrote the book Lapsing, published 1987.1 She wrote the book Knowledge of Angels, published 1993.1 She was a novelist and children’s writer.1 From 2004, her married name became Townsend.1 From February 2020, her married name became Herbert.1
