     Sir William Thackeray Marriott was born in 1834.1 He was the son of Christopher Marriott and Jane Dorothea Poole.1 He married Charlotte Louisa Tennant, daughter of Captain Charles Edmund Tennant and Anne Sophia Temple, on 17 December 1872.1 He died on 27 July 1903 at Aix-la-Chapelle, France.1
     He was educated at St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was admitted to barrister on 26 January 1864.1 He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) on 13 February 1877.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Brighton between 1880 and 1893.1 He held the office of Judge Advocate-General between 1885 and 1892.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 9 July 1885.1 He was appointed Knight in 1888.1
