     Margaret Emmeline Clarke was born in 1883.³ She married Lt.-Col. John Elgar Hume, son of Brig.-Gen. John James Francis Hume and Ethel Pagden, in 1908 at Weymouth, Dorset, England.¹ She died on 12 December 1927.³ She was buried on 12 December 1927 at Trimulgherry, Madras, India.³

     Colonel John Lawrence Hume was born on 2 April 1908 at Weymouth, Dorset, England.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Elgar Hume and Margaret Emmeline Clarke.¹ He married Dorothy Ethel Hindle in 1938 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.¹ He died in 1973.¹
     He was commissioned with the rank of officer, in the service of the South Staffordshire Regiment.² He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)² He retired from the military, with the rank of Colonel, late of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.²

     He fought in the Sutlej Campaign between 1845 and 1846.¹ He fought in the Major-General, Bengal Staff Corps.¹

     Mary Hansbrow was born in 1828.¹ She was the daughter of James Hansbrow.² She married Maj.-Gen. John James Hume, son of John Hume and Anne Louisa Parke, on 6 November 1855 at St. Paul’s Church, Agra, India.² She died on 15 March 1865 at Bareilly, Bengal, India.³
     From 6 November 1855, her married name became Hume.²
