     He was also known as Major Samuel Madden Hall.²

     Henry Jermyn, 1st Earl of Saint Albans was born in 1605.² He was the son of Sir Thomas Jermyn and Catherine Killigrew.¹ He died in 1683, unmarried.¹
     He was created 1st Baron Jermyn, of St. Edmundsbury, co. Suffolk [England] on 8 September 1643, with special remainder to his brother, Thomas Jermyn.¹ He was created 1st Earl of Saint Albans [England] on 27 April 1660.¹ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.)¹ He held the office of Lord Chamberlain of the Household.¹ On his death, his earldom became extinct.¹
