Professor Sir Roger Vernon Scruton was born on 27 February 1944 at Buslingthorpe, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.3 He was the son of John Scruton and Beryl Haynes.4,3 He married, firstly, Danielle Lafitte in 1973.3 He and Danielle Lafitte were divorced in 1979.3 He married, secondly, Hon. Sophie Louise Jeffreys, daughter of Mark George Christopher Jeffreys, 2nd Baron Jeffreys and Anne Worthington-Evans, in December 1996.1 He died on 12 January 2020 at age 75.3
He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He graduated in 1973 with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)1 He wrote the book Art and Imagination, published 1974.1 He wrote the book The Aesthetics of Music, published 1997.3 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 2016.5
