He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, on 28 July 1784.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Athlone [Ireland] in 1800.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Castlemaine of Moydrum, co. Westmeath [I., 1812] on 7 January 1839.1

William Handcock, 1st and last Viscount Castlemaine1 
He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, on 4 August 1779.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Athlone [Ireland] between 1783 and 1800.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Athlone between 1800 and August 1803.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 10 February 1801.2 He was created 1st Baron Castlemaine of Moydrum, co. Westmeath [Ireland] on 21 December 1812, with a special remainder to his brother, Richard.2 He was Constable and Governor of Athlone between 1813 and 1839.4 He held the office of Governor of County Westmeath between 1814 and 1831.4 He was created 1st Viscount Castlemaine [Ireland] on 12 January 1822.2
On his death, his viscountancy became extinct.2
