He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Turner. He was commissioned in 1789 with the rank of Cornet, in the service of the Royal Horse Guards.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1794 and 1795.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kingston upon Hull between 1796 and 1802.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1797 in the 4th West Yorkshire Militia.2
