     Major James Hope was born on 6 March 1857.1 He was the son of Major William Hope and Stratyra Livedostro.2 He married Constance Marion Brewster, daughter of Sir David Brewster, in 1894.1 He died on 26 March 1936 at age 79.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1
