     Sir John Gibson of Pentland was the son of Sir Alexander Gibson of Pentland and Helen Fleming.2 He married Elizabeth Craig, daughter of Lewis Craig, 4th of Riccarton and Margaret Dalgleish, on 3 November 1687.1 He died on 13 May 1704.1
     He sold Durie to Alexander Gibson of Durie.1 He held the office of Deputy-Clerk Register between 1696 and 1700.1 He was appointed Knight before 1700.1

     Sir Alexander Gibson of Pentland, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir John Gibson of Pentland and Elizabeth Craig.2 He married Margaret Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, Lord Pencaitland and Catherine Denholm.1 He died on 15 April 1774.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Gibson, of Keirhill, Midlothian [N.S., 1702] circa June 1727.1
