Walter Coningsby of Herts. son of Sir Ralph of North Mimms
Mat. from Exeter l6O7 aged 15 .B.A. 1610 M.A. 1613 Div. and D. of Divinity 1626
(I think he may have taken the Doctorate at Oxford for there is a Walter Coningsbie sic listed as taking his D.Div. at Exeter CoIl. 1626)

Barry Watson in August 2000 said:-
‘I then came across the enclosed pedigree of the Button family and noticed that Walter was listed as having married Jane Button, the sister of Martha who had married Thomas Coningsby of North Mimms. I then realized that the mother of these two girls was the lady who, as a widow, had married Sir Ralph Coningsby, the father of Thomas of North Mimms and (if the details listed above are correct? ) also of Walter. In other words, these two brothers married their step sisters. To make this legal, both Thomas and Walter would have had to be the sons of Sir Ralph, by his first wife (Margery Whethill) and the girls the daughters of Jane, by her first husband (William Button)
This means that Walter is missing from the 1634 Hertfordshire visitation ? Dead? (It is interesting to note another Walter Conisby at Cambridge University at Clare College 24th May 1636 who matriculated 1637)
You will also note that the Button pedigree seems to list a brother for Walter it. James? do you think that this James could have been the son of the marriage of Sir Ralph and the widow Button (making him the full brother of Robert Coningsby of the Weld) I only say this because you will notice the 2 sic on the pedigree against Robert i.e. possibly 2nd son of second marriage?
Walter was said to be the rector of Sutton Veney in Wiltshire, When I looked this up in Vict Hist of Wilts I found that the Button Family held this land also!’
