     Franics and Charlotte lived at ‘Clifton’ which Charlotte inherited from her mother Anna Maria Bingaman. The Yankees demolished Clifton for a fort, which was never built. The rumor is it was demolished because the Surget’s failed to invite one of the Yankee officers (an engineer) to a party so he had it destroyed for revenge.³
