     Janet Bruce is the daughter of Edward Bruce, 1st Baron Bruce of Kinlosse.² She married Thomas Dalyell, son of John Dalzell, on 8 October 1601.¹

     General Thomas Dalyell of the Binns was born in 1599. He was the son of Thomas Dalyell and Janet Bruce.³ He married Agnes Ker, daughter of John Ker of Cavers.¹ He died on 1 October 1685.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in 1642 in the forces in Ireland.¹ In 1649 he had charge of the customs of Carrickfergus.¹ He fought in the Battle of Worcester in 1651, where he was captured and imprisoned in the Tower of London.¹ He gained the rank of General in 1651 in the royalist army.¹ In 1652 he escaped to the Continent.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1655 in the Russian Army, against the Poles and Turks.¹ In 1666 he helped suppress the Covenanters.¹ He was Commander-in-Chief of the Scotland between 1666 and 1685.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1667.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Linlithgowshire between 1678 and 1685.¹ In 1681 he raised the Scots Greys.¹

     Agnes Ker is the daughter of John Ker of Cavers.² She married General Thomas Dalyell of the Binns, son of Thomas Dalyell and Janet Bruce.¹
     Her married name became Dalyell.¹

     Sir Thomas Dalyell of the Binns, 1st Bt. is the son of General Thomas Dalyell of the Binns and Agnes Ker.² He married Katharine Drummond, daughter of Sir William Drummond of Riccarton and Magdalen Dalyell.¹
     He gained the rank of Army Captain.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Dalyell [Nova Scotia] on 7 November 1685, with remainder to his eldest son and heirs male and tailzie succeeding him in the estate of Binns.¹

     Sir William Drummond of Riccarton married Magdalen Dalyell, daughter of Thomas Dalyell.¹

     Katharine Drummond is the daughter of Sir William Drummond of Riccarton and Magdalen Dalyell.^2,1 She married Sir Thomas Dalyell of the Binns, 1st Bt., son of General Thomas Dalyell of the Binns and Agnes Ker.¹

     Sir Thomas Dalyell of the Binns, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Thomas Dalyell of the Binns, 1st Bt. and Katharine Drummond.² He died on 4 May 1719, unmarried.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Dalyell [N.S., 1685].¹ On his death, his baronetcy became dormant untill 1723–28.¹

     Magdalen Dalyell is the daughter of Sir Thomas Dalyell of the Binns, 1st Bt. and Katharine Drummond.² She married James Menteith of Auldcathy in 1688.¹
     From 1688, her married name became Menteith.¹

     Elizabeth Blore is the daughter of Christopher Blore.² She married Christopher Roper, son of John Roper and Jane Fyneux.¹
     Her married name became Roper.¹
