A visitor to the house on census day was Adria Susan Josephine Rose who married in 1885 an Edinburgh stockbroker: Edward Lawrence Ireland Blyth; both emigrated to South Africa; Edward died there in 1951 aged 93. In 1898 Brentry House became “Brentry Colony” for Inebriates; a sad end for a house designed in 1802 by Humphrey Repton and his son. 1901 – Eltham Lawn, Lansdown Road, Cheltenham. Mary was accompanied by her daughter Blanche Anson on Census Day.1
