     William Cuninghame, 1st of Craigends was born circa 1460.2 He was the son of Alexander Cuninghame, 1st Earl of Glencairn and Margaret Hepburn.1 He married by contract, firstly, Elizabeth Stewart, daughter of Sir Walter Stewart of Arthurlie and Janet Cameron, on 29 January 1484.3,2 He married, secondly, Marion Auchinleck, daughter of Sir John Auchinleck of Glenbervie and Christian Lindsay, on 12 March 1497/98.4 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England.2
     On 10 July 1506 he had a charter of Robertland.4 He lived at Craigends, Renfrewshire, ScotlandG.4 He lived at Robertland, Stewarton, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.4 He fought in the Battle of Flodden Field on 9 September 1513.2
