     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Company Service.1

     William Minchin was born circa 1774.1 He was the son of George Minchin.1 He married Ann (?) before 1797.1 He died on 26 March 1821.1
     He gained the rank of in 1795 in the R.I. (18th) Foot.1 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1797.1 He and Ann (?) emigrated to AustraliaG arriving on 1797 female convict transport Lady Shore.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1805 in the 102nd Foot.1 In 1808 at Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG, he was prominent in the mutiny against Captain William Bligh.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1812.1 He retired from the military in 1817.1 He was a director of the Bank of New South Wales.1 He was Governor of Macquarie and Principal Superintendent of Police in April 1820 at New South Wales, AustraliaG.1

     Ann (?) married, firstly, William Minchin, son of George Minchin, before 1797.1 She married, secondly, Eber Bunker in 1823.1
     From before 1797, her married name became Minchin.1 She and William Minchin emigrated to AustraliaG arriving on 1797 female convict transport Lady Shore.1 From 1823, her married name became Bunker.1

     Maria Matilda Minchin was the daughter of William Minchin and Ann (?)1 She married Henry Howey in 1826.1 She died in 1828, drowned between Melbourne and Sydney in the sinking of the Sarah, along with the rest of his family.1
     From 1826, her married name became Howey.1

Henry Howey1

     Henry Howey married Maria Matilda Minchin, daughter of William Minchin and Ann (?), in 1826.1 He died in 1828, drowned between Melbourne and Sydney in the sinking of the Sarah, along with the rest of his family.1
