Emma Vernon was the daughter of Thomas Vernon and Emma Cornewall.1 She married, firstly, Henry Cecil, 1st Marquess of Exeter, son of Hon. Thomas Chambers Cecil and Charlotte Garnier, on 23 May 1776.1 She and Henry Cecil, 1st Marquess of Exeter were divorced on 10 June 1791. She married, secondly, Reverend William Sneyd, son of Edward Sneyd, on 13 October 1791.2 She married, thirdly, John Phillips in 1795.

Rev. Hon. Henry Douglas Douglas was born on 17 December 1822.2 He was the son of George Sholto Douglas, 17th Earl of Morton and Frances Theodora Rose.1,2 He was baptised on 1 January 1823 at Berlin, Brandenburg, GermanyG.3 He married Lady Mary Baillie-Hamilton, daughter of George Baillie-Hamilton, 10th Earl of Haddington and Georgina Markham, on 7 June 1855.1 He died on 4 October 1907 at age 84.2
He graduated from Durham University, Durham, County Durham, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He graduated from University of the Southern U.S.A., Sewanee, Tennessee, U.S.A., with a B.L.C.2 He was Rector between 1855 and 1877 at Hanbury, Worcestershire, England.2 He was Vicar between 1877 and 1904 at St. Pauls, Worcester, Worcestershire, England.2 He held the office of Canon of Worcester.2
