William Plender, 1st and last Baron Plender was born on 20 August 1861 at Felling, County Durham, EnglandG.1,3 He was the son of William Plender and Elizabeth Agnes Smallpiece Vardy.1 He married, firstly, Marian Elizabeth Channon on 8 October 1891 at West Ham, Essex, EnglandG.1,3 He married, secondly, Mabel Agnes Laurie, daughter of Peter George Laurie, on 27 April 1932.1 He died on 19 January 1946 at age 84, without issue.1
He was a senior partner of Deloitte, Pleander, Griffiths and Company, Chartered Accountants.1 He was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants between 1910 and 1912.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1911.1 He was Treasury controller of German, Austrian and Turkish banks between 1914 and 1918.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1918.1 He was Financial Advisor to the Board of Trade in 1918.1 He was created 1st Baronet Plender [U.K.] on 16 July 1923.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of London between 1927 and 1928.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Kent between 1928 and 1929.1 He was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants between 1929 and 1930.1 He held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London.1 He was created 1st Baron Plender, of Sundridge, co. Kent [U.K.] on 20 January 1931.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
