Sir Joseph McConnell, 2nd Bt. was born on 17 September 1877.1 He was the son of Sir Robert John McConnell, 1st Bt. and Mary Elizabeth Smiley.2 He married Lisa McGowan, daughter of Jackson McGowan, on 25 April 1900.1 He died on 27 August 1942 at age 64.3
He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet McConnell, of the Moat, Strandtown, Belfast [U.K., 1900] on 22 April 1927.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Antrim between 1929 and 1942.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Belfast.1
