     Charles Wallace Alexander Napier Cochrane-Baillie, 2nd Baron Lamington was born on 29 July 1860.1 He was the son of Alexander Dundas Ross Cochrane-Wishart-Baillie, 1st Baron Lamington and Annabella Mary Elizabeth Drummond.1 He married Hon. Mary Haughton Hozier, daughter of William Wallace Hozier, 1st Baron Newlands and Frances Anne O’Hara, on 13 June 1895.1 He died on 16 September 1940 at age 80.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Pancras between 1886 and 1890.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Lamington, of Lamington, co. Lanark [U.K., 1880] on 15 February 1890.1 He held the office of Governor of Queensland between 1895 and 1901.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.)1 He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (G.C.I.E.)1 He held the office of Governor of Bombay between 1903 and 1907.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2

     After her marriage, Hon. Mary Haughton Hozier was styled as Baroness Lamington on 13 June 1895. From 13 June 1895, her married name became Cochrane-Baillie.1
