     Rear-Admiral Charles Hope was born on 12 April 1798.2 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Charles Hope, Lord Granton and Lady Charlotte Hope.3 He married, firstly, Anne Webley-Parry, daughter of Rear-Admiral William Henry Webley-Parry, on 12 September 1826.2 He married, secondly, Mary Elizabeth Sykes, daughter of Joseph Sykes, on 19 January 1854.2 He died on 6 August 1854 at age 56.2
     He was commissioned in 1817 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the Royal Navy.3 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1854.3

     From 12 September 1826, her married name became Hope.1
