Mary Sydney was born in 1561. She was the daughter of Sir Henry Sydney and Lady Mary Dudley.1 She married Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, son of William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke and Ann Parr, on 21 April 1577.1 She died on 25 September 1621.1
After her marriage, Mary Sydney was styled as Countess of Pembroke on 21 April 1577. From 21 April 1577, her married name became Herbert.1
