Sir Richard Broun, 8th Bt.1 
He claimed the right to a knighthood prior to succeeding to his father’s baronetcy, but the Lord Chancellor refused to present him to the Queen for this purpose.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 30 November 1844.1 In 1849 he was the projector of ‘the London Necropolis’ at Woking.1
