     Sir Richard Broun, 8th Bt. was born on 22 April 1801 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He was the son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson.¹ He was baptised on 23 April 1801 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.² He died on 10 December 1858 at age 57 at Sphinx Lodge, Chelsea, London, England^G, unmarried.¹
     He claimed the right to a knighthood prior to succeeding to his father’s baronetcy, but the Lord Chancellor refused to present him to the Queen for this purpose.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 30 November 1844.¹ In 1849 he was the projector of ‘the London Necropolis’ at Woking.¹

     Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. was born on 21 July 1804 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.^1,2,3 He was the son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson.¹ He was baptised on 23 July 1804 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.³ He married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of John Smith, on 18 July 1843 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He died on 10 June 1882 at age 77 at 7 Irving Street, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He was buried at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹
     He was a practising solicitor at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 10 December 1858.¹

     Elizabeth Smith was the daughter of John Smith.¹ She married Sir William Broun, 9th Bt., son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson, on 18 July 1843 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ She died on 19 August 1899 at Glenshee, Cambridge Park, Twickenham, London, England^G.¹ She was buried at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹
     From 18 July 1843, her married name became Broun.¹

     John Smith lived at Drongan, Ayrshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Sir William Broun, 10th Bt. was born on 18 December 1848 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He was the son of Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Smith.¹ He married Alice Jane Peters, daughter of James Cornelius Peters and Elizabeth Chambers, on 12 April 1871 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia^G.¹ He died on 23 October 1918 at age 69.²
     He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 10 June 1882.¹ He lived in 1903 at Somerton, New South Wales, Australia^G.¹

     James Smith Broun was born circa 1844.¹ He was the son of Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Smith.¹ He died on 31 January 1872, on board H.M.S. Jumna, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Engineers.¹

     Alice Jane Peters was born in 1847 at Surrey Hills, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.² She was the daughter of James Cornelius Peters and Elizabeth Chambers.¹ She married Sir William Broun, 10th Bt., son of Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Smith, on 12 April 1871 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia^G.¹ She died in 1920.³
     From 12 April 1871, her married name became Broun.¹

     James Cornelius Peters held the office of Under Treasurer of New South Wales.¹ He lived at Manly Beach, Manly, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia^G.¹
