Rt. Rev. George Henry Law was born on 12 September 1761 at Peterhouse Lodge, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.3 He was the son of Rt. Rev. Edmund Law and Mary Christian.4 He married Jane Adeane, daughter of General James Whorwood Adeane and Anne Jones, on 13 July 1784.3 He died on 22 September 1845 at age 84.3
He was educated at Charterhouse School, London, EnglandG.3 He graduated from Queens’ College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1784 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was Prebendary in 1785 at Carlisle, Cumberland, EnglandG.3 He was the Vicar in 1787 at Torpenhow, Cumberland, EnglandG.3 He was the Rector in 1791 at Kelshall, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.3 He was the Rector in 1801 at Willingshall, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.3 He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1804 with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)1 He held the office of Bishop of Chester between 1812 and 1824.1 He held the office of Bishop of Bath and Wells between 1824 and 1845.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
