     Major David Johnstone Mitchell was born in 1890. He was the son of Arthur Charles Mitchell and Constance Lucy Elwes. He married Clara Gardiner Muir, daughter of John Gardiner Muir, on 14 April 1925.1 He died on 25 December 1954, following a car crash.1
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He gained the rank of Major in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.2

     She gained the title of Prinzessin zu Salm-Salm.
