     Joseph Paton Maclay, 2nd Baron Maclay was born on 31 May 1899.¹ He was the son of Joseph Paton Maclay, 1st Baron Maclay and Martha Strang.² He married Nancy Margaret Greig, daughter of Robert Coventry Greig and Margaret Lucy Colbeck, on 24 September 1936.¹ He died on 7 November 1969 at age 70.¹
     He was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) Lanark [U.K., 1922] on 24 April 1951.² He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Maclay, of Glasgow, co. Lanark [U.K., 1914] on 24 April 1951.² He was awarded the Commander, Order of Orange of Nassau of the Netherlands.¹

     Nancy Margaret Greig was born in 1908 at Polmont, Stirlingshire, Scotland.^2,3 She was the daughter of Robert Coventry Greig and Margaret Lucy Colbeck.^4,3 She married Joseph Paton Maclay, 2nd Baron Maclay, son of Joseph Paton Maclay, 1st Baron Maclay and Martha Strang, on 24 September 1936.¹ She died on 3 August 2014.²
     Her married name became Maclay. After her marriage, Nancy Margaret Greig was styled as Baroness Maclay on 24 April 1951.
