Charles John Darling, 1st Baron Darling was born on 6 December 1849.1 He was the son of Charles Darling and Sarah Frances Tizard.2 He married Mary Caroline Greathed, daughter of Maj.-Gen. William Wilberforce Harris Greathed and Alice Clive, on 16 September 1885.2 He died on 29 May 1936 at age 86.1
He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1874 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) in 1885.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Deptford between 1888 and 1897.1 He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1892.1 He was appointed Knight in 1897.1 He held the office of High Court Judge of the King’s Bench between 1897 and 1923.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1917.1 He was created 1st Baron Darling, of Langham, co.
