Sir Bernard Arthur Owen Williams1 
Sir Bernard Arthur Owen Williams was born on 21 September 1929 at Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, England.3 He married, firstly, Shirley Vivien Teresa Brittain Catlin, Baroness Williams of Crosby, daughter of Sir George Edward Gordon Catlin and Vera Mary Brittain, in 1955.1 He and Shirley Vivien Teresa Brittain Catlin, Baroness Williams of Crosby were divorced in 1974.1 He married, secondly, Patricia Law in 1974.3 He died on 10 June 2003 at age 73 at Rome, Italy.3
He was educated at Chigwell School, England.3 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He was Professor of Philosophy between 1967 and 1979 at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He was appointed Fellow, British Academy (F.B.A.) in 1971.3 He wrote the book An Introduction to Ethics, published 1972.3 He wrote the book Moral Luck, published 1981.3 He wrote the book Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy, published 1985.3 He was Professor of Philosophy between 1988 and 2003 at University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California, U.S.A.G.3 He was Professor of Moral Philosophy between 1990 and 1996 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He was appointed Knight in 1999.3
