     Jean Boyle Young was the daughter of William Young.¹ She married Harry Duncan McGowan, 1st Baron McGowan, son of Henry McGowan and Agnes Wilson, on 17 December 1903.¹ She died on 8 April 1952.¹
     Her married name became McGowan. After her marriage, Jean Boyle Young was styled as Baroness McGowan on 24 February 1937.

     William Young lived at Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Harry Wilson McGowan, 2nd Baron McGowan was born on 18 May 1906.¹ He was the son of Harry Duncan McGowan, 1st Baron McGowan and Jean Boyle Young.¹ He married Bessie Carmen Cory, daughter of Sir James Herbert Cory, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Cansh Walker, on 22 April 1937.² He died on 5 July 1986 at age 80.¹
     He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, England.¹ He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Middlesex Yeomanry.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron McGowan, of Ardeer, co. Ayr [U.K., 1937] on 13 July 1961.¹

     Bessie Carmen Cory was born in 1914.² She was the daughter of Sir James Herbert Cory, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Cansh Walker.² She married Harry Wilson McGowan, 2nd Baron McGowan, son of Harry Duncan McGowan, 1st Baron McGowan and Jean Boyle Young, on 22 April 1937.² She died on 6 September 1996.^2,3
     Bessie Carmen Cory usually went by her middle name of Carmen.² Her married name became McGowan. After her marriage, Bessie Carmen Cory was styled as Baroness McGowan on 13 July 1961.

     Sir James Herbert Cory, 1st Bt. was born on 7 February 1857.¹ He was the son of John Cory.¹ He married, firstly, Elizabeth Hoskin Wills, daughter of George Hoskin Wills, in 1879.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Cansh Walker, daughter of Alexander Walker, in 1910.¹ He died on 7 February 1933 at age 76.¹
     Sir James Herbert Cory, 1st Bt. usually went by his middle name of Herbert.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cardiff.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Glamorgan.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Glamorgan.¹ He was director of John Cory and Sons Ltd, shipowners.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1913.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Cardiff between 1915 and 1918.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for South Cardiff between 1918 and 1923.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Cory, of Coryton, Whitchurch, Glamorgan [U.K.] on 13 May 1919.¹

     Harry Duncan McGowan, 3rd Baron McGowan was born on 20 July 1938.¹ He was the son of Harry Wilson McGowan, 2nd Baron McGowan and Bessie Carmen Cory.¹ He married Lady Gillian Angela Pepys, daughter of John Digby Thomas Pepys, 7th Earl of Cottenham and Lady Angela Isabel Nellie Larnach-Nevill, on 16 May 1962.² He died on 6 May 2003 at age 64.³
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was with Panmure Gordon between 1968 and 1995.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron McGowan, of Ardeer, co. Ayr [U.K., 1937] on 5 July 1986.¹ He was chairman of Panmure Gordon between 1995 and 2003.¹

     Harry John Charles McGowan, 4th Baron McGowan was born on 23 June 1971.¹ He is the son of Harry Duncan McGowan, 3rd Baron McGowan and Lady Gillian Angela Pepys.¹ He married Emma Smith, daughter of Duncan Hattersley Smith, on 13 October 2001.²
     He was a stockbroker.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Baron McGowan, of Ardeer, co. Ayr [U.K., 1937] on 6 May 2003.¹
