     John Gladstone of Capenoch was born on 17 January 1908.² He was the son of Sir Hugh Steuart Gladstone of Capenoch and Cecil Emily Chetwynd-Talbot.² He married, firstly, Alison Frances Henniker-Hughan, daughter of Admiral Sir Arthur John Henniker-Hughan, 6th Bt. and Inger Margueretta Hutchinson, on 29 September 1936.² He and Alison Frances Henniker-Hughan were divorced in 1947.² He married, secondly, Diana Rosamond Maud Fleming-Hamilton, daughter of Major William Malcolm Fleming-Hamilton and Susanna Ruth Skrine, on 15 November 1950.² He died on 30 June 1977 at age 69.^3,4
