     Captain Hon. Hubert Anthony John Preston was born on 20 December 1885.¹ He was the son of Jenico William Joseph Preston, 14th Viscount Gormanston and Georgina Jane Connelan.¹ He married Mary Kenny, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Kenny, on 8 January 1917.¹ He died on 12 July 1940 at age 54.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹
