He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress, co. Limerick [I., 1776] on 23 September 2019. He succeeded as the 10th Baron Southwell of Castle Mattress, co. Limerick [I., 1717] on 23 September 2019.

     Hon. Charles Anthony John Southwell was born on 27 September 1962.¹ He is the son of Pyers Anthony Joseph Southwell, 7th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress and Barbara Jacqueline Raynes.¹
     He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Evelyn Mary Elizabeth Southwell was born on 14 November 1926.¹ She is the daughter of Hon. Francis Joseph Southwell and Agnes Mary Annette Clifford.¹ She married Harold Hope in 1952.¹
     From 1952, her married name became Hope.¹ She lived in 2003 at 19 Mortlake Street, Islington, Christchurch, New Zealand^G.¹

     James Hay was the son of James Hay and Margaret Gordon.² He married Helen Lauder, daughter of Sir John Lauder of Fountainhall, 2nd Bt. and Marion Anderson, after 1722.¹ He died in 1740.²
