He graduated from Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1883 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet James, of the city of Dublin [U.K., 1823] on 11 February 1933.2

He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Royal Scots Fusliers.2 He was admitted to Gray’s Inn entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He was Chief Constable of Northumberland between 1900 and 1935.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1918.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1926.2 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet James, of the city of Dublin [U.K., 1823] on 6 December 1942.2
